Bjoern Krueger has been organizing events ever since he studied law at Berlin’s "Freie Universitaet" (Free University). In 1989/90 he managed several times to lure over 2.500 students to the refectory in the remote suburb of Lankwitz - thanks to a unique and new uni-party concept. He also worked there as a DJ, which proved to be a much welcomed sideline in later years as well.

After his legal clerkship in Berlin and Sydney/ Australia, Bjoern worked as a self employed lawyer for a few years. But he never lost sight of his passion and along the way founded the Born In The 60ies - Club, a regular event for a more grown-up audience, which made it to #12 in the annual Berlin club ranking of the respected Tagesspiegel (1997/98). A highlight was a remarkable New Year’s Eve party in the temporary Infobox (at that time the second most visited tourist-attraction in the city - right after the Brandenburg Gate!).

After long wooing for his preferred media partner Radio Eins (who were not presenting any parties up to that time) and a first successful cooperation at the Traenenpalast, a promising connection was set up with popular radio presenters Wieprecht & Skuppin.

This lead to the joint project Die Schoene Party in early 2000.

For that, Bjoern extended his concept for the Born In The 60ies - Club and found the ideal venue with the Kalkscheune. With three (later four) dancefloors, each featuring different and alternating musical styles, he realized an idea that was virtually unknown in Berlin to that day. Additionally there were celebrity guest DJs (another novelty) from various walks of life, including music, tv, sports, politics, entertainment, literature and - of course – many names from Radio Eins. Theme nights, culture- and decor-specials and occasional live performances were also part of the concept.

Starting as a monthly event, the success of Die Schoene Party exceeded all expectations, as it was always sold out in advance. Soon it was decided to change to a fortnightly cycle, which meant that Bjoern had to make up his mind whether to concentrate on his event organizations or his work as a lawyer. The decision was an easy one and in December 2000 he and his two business partners founded the company der apparat event gmbh, with Bjoern becoming its sole manager.

In his two years as manager, the company grew steadily and several new projects and ideas were developed. Amongst those implemented were the taz-sommer-salon (with guests like Berlin-based Russian author & DJ Wladimir Kaminer), a regular student night (Das InStITuT) and a talent show for the Zitty magazine (Der Star bin Ich).
